_ _ Genomics Core Facility Seminars: SNP Genotyping and Gene and miRNA Expression using the Quantstudio and digital PCR Applications_ _ When: Wednesday, January 21, 2015, 10:45 to 2:30_ _ Where: Millennium Science Complex Room 203_ ________________Sponsored by the Genomics Core Facility_ _ 11:00 AM High-Throughput SNP Genotyping using the QuantStudio 12K Flex_ _ Today's research often requires large sample sets and a large number of SNPs. The OpenArray system uses 3072 well plates to enable large projects at low cost per data point. Penn State has offered real-time PCR services on the OpenArray format for several years. As of the new year, Penn State has upgraded to the latest in OpenArray and real-time PCR technology with the QuantStudio 12K Flex. Find out how you can get a large number of SNPs determined at a low cost per SNP per subject._ _ _________Presented by Marcia Slater, Senior Technical Specialist, Life Technologies_ _ _ 11:30 AM High-Throughput Gene Expression and miRNA Profiling using the QuantStudio 12K Flex_ _ Today's research often requires large numbers of genes or miRNA determinations per sample. It provides an absolute quantification of DNA (or cDNA) molecules without the use of a standard curve. Digital PCR can achieve levels of precision that are unattainable by qPCR. The basic theory of digital PCR will be discussed. Included will be an introduction to the QuantStudio 3D, Digital PCR System. Because Digital PCR analyzes the data at the end of the PCR, it offers some unique benefits as compared to qPCR. Next Gen Sequencing Library quantification, Copy Number Variation, absolute quantification of miRNAs, and other applications for digital PCR will be reviewed._ _ ________Presented by Marcia Slater, Senior Technical Specialist, Life Technologies_ _ _ 2:30 PM Meet 1:1 with Specialist From Life Technologies (bring your files on a USB drive) in Room 413 Chandlee._ _ _ To RSVP for lunch, please register with "Timothy Horsley" ._
