Mathematical models play a large role in infectious disease response, including guiding resource allocation, policy development, and situational understanding by the general public. Yet, we all know the saying, “All models are wrong, but some are useful.” How can we safely and ethically rely on models that we know are flawed? This talk will cover epidemiologic considerations that are needed to ensure the trustworthiness and validity of future infectious disease models used for public health response.
