Drafting Teaching Philosophies

Monday, April 20th from 6-8 PM in 362 Willard. What makes for a good teaching philosophy? How might different fields approach the work of teaching differently and how does this change the expectations of the genre for each field? This workshop will teach strategies for drafting a professional - and yet personalized - statement of one's teaching philosophy. We will focus on the genre conventions, organization, embedding pedagogical strategies, providing specific examples, and issues of ethics as a way to outline, draft, and polish an effective teaching philosophy.
