Veterinary diagnostic laboratories are multidisciplinary resources that play time-sensitive roles in investigating and counteracting complex environmental problems that undermine the health of people, animals and ecosystems. Data derived from diagnostic laboratories enables evidence-based regulations and policies. The California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) has provided expertise and analytical resources for investigating impacts of diverse toxicants, such as rodenticides, insecticides, lead, and phycotoxins on wildlife, domestic animal, and human health. The presentation will describe CAHFS activities in environmental problem solving in ways that advance concurrent gains under a genuine One Health umbrella
