Center For Cellular Dynamics Workshop
December 6, 2013 @ 04:05 pm to 06:05 pm
100 Life Sciences, Berg Auditorium
Format: We will start with a short talk to bring everyone up to speed on the bacterial CRISPR/Cas9 system. We will then have two talks on using this guided nuclease to introduce changes into the genome of model systems._ Background: Genome engineering with CRISPR is being rapidly implemented in all model systems. It seems like a very easy way to generate targeted deletions, and in more sophisticated versions, to insert sequences at specific genomic sites. In the workshop we will hear how it has been implemented in model systems, with the idea of determining if and how it might be useful for our own research projects.
