Overview

Mysorekar is a cell and developmental biologist studying how microbes interact with the placenta and urinary bladder mucosa. Mysorekar’s lab investigates UTIs and bladder autophagy, age-related immune dysfunction, infection transmission during pregnancy, and placental microbes and fetal immune tolerance using human samples, animal models, organoids, and placental cells. Mysorekar translates these findings into clinical practice through collaborations with physicians while advancing reproductive health research and mentoring future leaders in women’s genitourinary health.
