He uses both in vitro and in vivo models, and employs ‘omics’ approaches in conjunction with cellular and molecular techniques to determine ‘polypharmacology’ of whole foods and complex mixtures, and of individual plant bioactive compounds. Dr. Vanamala’s long-term research goal is to improve the health profiles of food products and provide modern evidence for ancient wisdom on diet and disease.
