GENESIS Mission - Biotechnology

The Growth, Energy, and National Excellence through Science, Innovation, and Security (GENESIS) Mission is an initiative that provides a coordinated national strategy to transform the scientific enterprise with a long-term goal of doubling U.S. scientific productivity within the next decade.

Led by the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, Penn State is tackling the nation's largest priorities in Biotechnology.

What is the GENESIS Mission?

The GENESIS Mission will build the world's most advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled Science and Security Platform, integrating AI, high-performance computing, quantum technologies, national research infrastructure, data resources, and strategic partnerships. This coordinated approach is designed to accelerate innovation and scientific discovery across disciplines, strengthen national security, secure energy dominance, drive economic growth, and enhance workforce productivity to further American leadership in science and technology development.

Biotechnology Grand Challenge

National Science and Technology Grand Challenges: The Genesis Mission developed a portfolio of ambitious national science and technology challenges focused on solving real-world problems in the physical sciences, energy, and national security. These will serve as proof-of-concept testbeds for AI-enabled research and accelerated scientific breakthroughs.

The Federal Government organizes the Genesis Mission around a set of grand challenges. Penn State has further organized these challenges into thematic areas to promote collaboration and teaming, with these related to Biotechnology.
