About
The internationally-awarded One Health Microbiome Center advances interdisciplinary research and education at the intersection of human health, agricultural health, and environmental health through the lens of the microbiome. Guided by the One Health framework and a vision to define the great microbiome center of the 21st century, the Center investigates how microbial communities – the foundation of the biosphere - influence disease prevention, immune function, antimicrobial resistance, food systems, evolution, and ecosystem health. By integrating expertise in microbiology, genomics, veterinary medicine, public health, environmental science, and data science, the Center addresses complex and vital global health challenges through collaborative, science-driven solutions.
As a major hub for microbiome research and innovation, the One Health Microbiome Center fosters strategic partnerships across academia, healthcare, government, and industry. Through industry collaborations, the Center accelerates translational research, supports product development and commercialization, and advances evidence-based solutions that improve human, animal, and environmental health. The Center also provides research infrastructure, workforce training, and community engagement initiatives that strengthen microbiome science and expand real-world impact at local, national, and global levels.
