Hear directly from our students as they share their research, experiences, and what they enjoy most about being part of the program.
Penn State Animal Science undergrads Chloe Davis and Olivia Cover receive extensive, hands-on research experience while assisting Jennine Lection, PhD candidate in the Integrative and Biomedical Physiology at the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.
Jennine Lection is a fully qualified veterinarian and board-certified theriogenologist who came to Penn State to obtain a PhD from the Huck's Integrative and Biomedical Physiology program. She's studying how animal diseases can be better detected and treated and passing that expertise on to the public and the undergrads working with her.
Denver Greenawalt is a graduate student from the Huck's Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biosciences program. He's a scientist looking at the effects of tiny plastic particles on the central nervous system, as well as a mentor passing his expertise on to Penn State undergrads.
Avery Sicher is a PhD student in the Huck’s neuroscience program. She studies the formation of neuronal circuits during adolescence, and particularly how alcohol affects brain development.
Jiaxing Chen is a PhD student in the Huck Institutes' Bioinformatics and Genomics program. He's studying immune cell responses to cancer and therapeutic strategies, such as CAR-T cells, that could improve their effectiveness against certain kinds of tumors.
Alex Weiner is the first subject in a new series of short videos in which we'll be getting to know a few graduate students at the Huck Institutes. A part of the Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biosciences (MCIBS) program, he's working in Melissa Rolls's lab. Learn more about what drives Alex, and why he chose Penn State.
Caylon Yates is a PhD student in the Huck Institutes' Ecology program. He studies microbial ecology and recently received a prestigious Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation.
Dr. Lucilla Pizzo is a recent graduate of the Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biosciences program. Hear why she chose to do her Ph.D at Penn State's Huck Institutes.
