CHE 097 Freshman Seminar

The biotechnology industry is one of the fastest growing segments of our economy, providing life-saving drugs to millions of patients, while also leading the development of drought-resistant crops and bio-based fuels and chemicals.

This one-credit freshman seminar will provide an overview of the field; you’ll begin with the basic science of recombinant DNA, then explore applications in medicine, agriculture, and industry. The class will be based on case studies highlighting advances in industrial biotechnology, with guest lectures provided by current researchers and practitioners from leading biotechnology companies
