Center for Cellular Dynamics (CCD) launch
The Center for Cellular Dynamics (CCD) brings together cell and developmental biologists with common interests in different departments and colleges at Penn State. Addition of outstanding investigators over the past decade has created a substantial group of basic cell biologists at Penn State. These researchers will now come together to exchange ideas, develop collaborations, and create a strong intellectual environment for their labs.
Common interests of CCD labs:
- cytoskeleton and intracellular transport
- cellular changes during development and disease
- cell-cell communication and interactions
- live imaging
CCD events:
Faculty meet regularly to develop ideas.
Special events that are designed for everyone with an interest in cell biology, including CCD faculty, graduate students, and lab members have also been scheduled:
- Feb 29 and March 7 12pm, 301 Life Sciences: At each session four CCD members will give a brief introduction to questions their lab investigates. The goal is to give attendees a flavor of ongoing cell biology research at Penn State.
- May 9, 12 pm, 301 Life Sciences: seminar by Kristen Verhey. Dr Verhey is doing pioneering work on kinesin motors, including in vivo imaging of single motors in action.
- October 17: The CCD will have a mini-meeting which will include keynote speaker Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz.
