Instrumentation and space
The Transgenic Mouse Facility is located within the Life Sciences Building in a new semi-barrier facility.
Animal space
We have animal space in the Central Biological
Laboratory (CBL) on Hastings Road. This is used for mouse microinjection
procedures and holding of potential transgenic mice until weaning.
Mice are housed in ventilated micro-isolator caging with access limited to designated personnel.
Microinjection Facility
Our microinjection suite is equipped with an Olympus IX-70 microscope equipped with Hoffman Contrast Optics. The scope is attached to Eppendorf Transferman micromanipulators and Celltram microinjectors. The scope is also fixed with an Eppendorf Transjector for pronuclear injections.
The suite also contains two surgical scopes for embryo collection and transplantation, a De Fonbrune microforge for fashioning micropipettes, a Sutter P-97 micropipette puller and a refrigerator/freezer.
