ABI Hitachi 3730XL DNA Analyzer

This instrument enables high throughput and fast turn-around time. Researchers report reads of up to 1100 bases before an ambiguous base is encountered.

This 96 capillary electrophoresis unit machine will run up to 1200 samples in 24 hours and detects BigDye fluorescent terminator chemistry. Automated polymer filling and sample loading provide efficient and accurate runs.

Turnaround times

Template and primer samples brought in by 9am can usually be set up for that day's run. With the new LIMS software, results usually appear by 5pm (except for 96-well plates, where data appear that evening or the next day).

Tours

Want to tour a facility at University Park, or arrange a tour for someone else?

The Huck Institutes’ facility directors are glad to assist with scheduled tours for potential faculty hires and student recruitment. However, due to the heavy workloads in our facilities, we must request that the tours be set up in advance. Most of our facility directors cannot accommodate “drop in” tours since they are working on time sensitive research projects for faculty.

Procedure for setting up facility tours

Contact the facility director to schedule the tour. We request a one week notice prior to the potential visit (earlier if possible). Or, if you prefer, you can contact Megan Matthews to make your arrangements.
