Genomics Core Facility, University Park

Providing expression and genetic analysis services to University and outside researchers.

Chandlee laboratory, home of the Genomics Core facility. Located on the 4th floor of Chandlee laboratory on the University Park campus.

Welcome to the Penn State Genomics Core Facility at University Park! Our new Applied Biosystems SOLiD sequencer is a next generation DNA sequencer with the capacity to produce 7 GB of sequence in a single run and in the near future will be able to produce 20 GB in a single run. Due to the variety of applications supported by the SOLiD, the Nucleic Acid facility and DNA Microarray facility have merged to form the Genomics Core facility. The Genomics Core will continue to provide all the services you have come to expect from the Nucleic Acid facility and DNA Microarray facility only now we are housed under one roof on the 4th floor of Chandlee Lab.

In addition to next generation sequencing, the Genomics Core offers traditional Sanger sequencing, genotyping assays, and oligonucleotide synthesis. The Genomics Core also performs microarray analysis for model organisms utilizing the Affymetrix GeneChip System and for applications requiring custom arrays, the NimbleGen platform.

Tours

Want to tour a facility at University Park, or arrange a tour for someone else? Contact the relevant facility director to schedule a tour.

Facilities are glad to assist with scheduled tours, e.g., for new faculty and students, potential hires, and student recruitment.

However, due to heavy workloads, we request that tours be set up in advance. We are unlikely to be able to accommodate "drop in" tours, because we are working on time-sensitive projects.
