Cytometry Facility, University Park
Fluorescence: from flow cytometry to confocal/widefield microscopy. We have equipment and expertise to customize experimental protocols, train researchers, and strengthen manuscripts and grant proposals.
Services
- Image cytometry using sophisticated fluorescence microscopes
- Flow cytometry using high-speed cytometers and cell sorters
- Training and assistance in sample preparation, use of equipment and interpretation of results. Preliminary analyses are conducted at no cost to assure that methods will work for the protocol and cell type of interest.
- Information to help you in grant and paper preparation, for example, literature searches and reference materials, preliminary data collection, help with experimental design.
- Access to Buffalo confocal and Purdue cytometry newsnets for help with difficult problems.
- Workshops and facility tours.

Practice before you pay
Olympus has an interactive tutorial website that simulates both of our confocal microscopes. If you want to learn about microscopy concepts and controls, take a look.
Training
All new users are required to attend a mandatory two-part flow cytometry course. Cost per new student is one hour of benchtop time ($35). The first session covers flow basics in lecture format. The second covers controls, titering, compensation; this session will be held in small groups. Contact us for information about dates of upcoming courses.
CoffeeCyte Open HouseThe facility is planning an Open House on May 1 from 3:30 to 5 pm. Come to 319 Life Sciences and see our equipment, ask questions and have french-press coffee and sweets.
