Who can help me write a grant proposal?
Penn State offers several kinds of advice and support in grant proposal preparation.
Once you have identified a possible source of grant funding, discuss the idea with your advisor and committee members. You will probably want to ask one or more of them to read and comment on your proposal before you submit it: make sure you let them know when to expect it, and give them a reasonable length of time to look at it.
You may also want to try to find other students who have been successful in obtaining funding from the source you are considering. They may be able to give you valuable advice.
From time to time, Penn State offers grant-writing workshops for students. Keep an eye out for announcements. Workshops offered by the Graduate School are publicized at http://www.gradsch.psu.edu/current/grantwriting.html.
Penn State's Graduate Writing Center provides free advice to improve your writing skills.
