Lindsey Swierk (Penn State University )
New frontiers in sexual selection theory

Wed Nov 11 at 12:20PM in 10 Tyson

Though the basic tenants of the theory of sexual selection originate from Darwin, there have been many notable breakthroughs, modifications, and even extreme dissent in sexual selection theory in the twentieth century.  This talk will present some of the current issues in sexual selection research and the challenges faced by modern scientists endeavoring to investigate new frontiers in sexual selection theory.  I will illustrate pressing questions in sexual selection theory by using examples from recent literature and also my own preliminary dataset involving fence lizards (Sceloporus undulatus).
