Turhan Canli is a neuroscientist and psychologist working on the brain basis of individual differences in emotion and personality. Dr. Canli uses cutting-edge methodologies, including functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic brain stimulation, and molecular genetic techniques to investigate how and why we differ from each other in our responses to emotional experiences. He has also published, and appeared as a contributor to a PBS program, on the topic of neuroethics - an emerging field of inquiry that is concerned with the ethical implications of neuroscientific discovery. Dr. Canli's research has been supported with a Young Investigator Award by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) and by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). He has received the 2002 American Psychological Association Grand Marquis Award for the best publication in Behavioral Neuroscience. His work has been featured in numerous national and international newspapers, magazines, and radio shows. Dr. Canli has appeared on CNN and MSNBC, among other television appearances. He holds a Ph.D. in biopsychology from Yale University.
