An informal research forum on diabetes and obesity sponsored by the Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity. Open to all Penn State researchers interested in diabetes and obesity. Best student/postdoc Poster Award - $250 bookstore certificate.
The goal of the Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (PSIDO) is to find out how we can best help you take the next step in your research impacting diabetes and/or obesity.
This informal event is being held to make time for discussions with colleagues and foster new collaborations among Penn State researchers with related interests and/or expertise.
Free registration
Registration is open to any researcher at any Penn State campus with interest in diabetes and/or obesity. Please register to come if you have any interest in these research areas. You need not present a poster to attend. There is no registration fee, but registration is necessary so that we can plan space and refreshments! Register now (registration deadline: October 31, 2007)
Shuttle
HMC/COM shuttle service will be provided.
Posters, 4 - 5:30pm
To facilitate discussions, we are inviting informal poster presentations to serve as the catalyst. Please use this as an opportunity to obtain feedback on posters in preparation for more formal venues, recycle used posters, or to just throw together some 8 x 11 print-outs on a new idea or recent pilot data. We will give a PSIDO World Diabetes Day Best Poster Award ($250 Bookstore Coupon) for the best graduate/post-doc poster, based on data not prettiness!
Roundtables, 5:30 - 7pm
After many one-on-one discussions at the posters, roundtables will serve as meeting places for larger groups of participants who have mutual interests. It is an opportunity for established groups to bring on board new collaborators or to form new groups. Thus, topics may be established research areas or new ones you wish to propose. Any individual may request to host a roundtable focusing on any topic or area of expertise. We will even provide some tables with blank “topic tents” for newly-recognized mutual interests that develop during the poster session.
