The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the world's largest general scientific society and the publisher of the journal Science.

Election as an AAAS Fellow is an honor bestowed upon members by their peers.

This year, 539 Fellows were selected for their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications.

  • Dr. De Moraes was named a Fellow for contributions to the fields of entomology and chemical ecology, particularly with regard to research on plant-insect interactions.
  • Dr. Schiff is honored for contributions to the interface of neuroscience, physics, engineering, and medicine, and in particular the applications of control engineering to dynamical diseases of the brain.

The Fellows will receive certificates and pins on February 18, 2012 at the AAAS Fellows Forum during the AAAS Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.
